The following package includes the GCOS Patch
5 software which provides several performance enhancements to the
GCOS Client software and GCOS Server Software. These enhancements
include:
- Deletion of DAT and corresponding CEL and CHP files through
popup menu or process menu when the DAT file tree node is right
clicked. DAT file deletion is also enabled through the Find window
search results.
- Increased speed when file security is enabled on GCOS Server
- Faster CEL file generation with high density array formats
- Automatic GCOS Administrator shutdown when installing or uninstalling
Affymetrix software products
- Refinement of Batch importer tool to remove leading "space"
characters and extra copy of EXP file at import location
- Better synchronization with GCS3000 Scanner to prevent "Unable
to Start the scan - Autofocus Error: Invalid State" errors
due to the start command being issued before the last array has
been ejected.
- Ability to restore backup files that contain Usersets
- CAB file version verification before restore to confirm appropriate
Software version.
Patch 5 is a cumulative patch and incorporates
all previous updates. No other updates are required. Patch 5.0
applies to GCOS client versions 1.0 and 1.1.1 and GCOS Server version
1.0. THIS PATCH DOES NOT APPLY TO GCOS V1.2. VERSION 1.2 INCLUDES
ALL THE FIXES IN THIS PATCH. DO NOT INSTALL THIS PATCH ON VERSION
1.2. For more information please read the customer letter attached
with the update.
- GCOS 1.0 or GCOS 1.1.1 must be installed prior to installing
GCOS Patch 5. IF YOU HAVE GCOS v1.2, DO NOT INSTALL THIS PATCH,
IT IS NOT REQUIRED.
- Point the web browser to the download link, select and start
the download.
- The download file will be a zip (WinZip) file.
- Open the zip file
- Extract the files (.exe file and a word document of what the
patch addresses)
- Double click on the .exe file to launch the install program
