An issue was identified with GCOS and Data Transfer Tool which causes a misalignment of scan and fluidics attributes and values in the process database. This issue does NOT affect any data (DAT, CEL, or CHP) because these attributes are not utilized for any downstream analysis within GCOS. A tool, Database Update Tool, has been created and will correct all misaligned scan and fluidics attributes.
In Data Transfer Tool v1.0 & v1.0.x, or any version of GCOS Administrator that has DTT v1.0 or v1.0.x installed, the CAB file restore process causes a misalignment of scan and fluidics attributes and values.
Any customer that follows the workflow outlined below could be exposed to this defect.
Workflow at risk
Misalignment occurs when an experiment is transferred out using Data Transfer Tool or GCOS Administrator in a CAB file format and is transferred to another workstation that does not have the fluidics protocol cited in the experiment information file associated with that experiment.
- First, download and run the Database Update Tool. This tool will correct all misaligned scan and fluidics attributes
- Upgrade your DTT software to v1.1
- If possible, use DTT Archive or Flat File formats
- In the future, if the problem arises again, re-run the Database Update Tool
- Unzip the DatabaseUpdateTool1.1.1.zip file
- Extract the files to your GeneChip folder.
- By default, this is C:\Program Files\Affymetrix\GeneChip
- Verify that "Use folder names" is checked
- Make a note of the location the files are extracted to
- The following files are extracted to the temporary directory:
- DatabaseUpdateTool1.1.1.exe
- Scripts folder
- putil.dll
- Double click the DatabaseUpdateTool1.1.1.exe to launch the program.
