How many times can I scan a GeneChip® expression array before the data is affected?

It is always best to capture the data on the initial scan. The laser light used in the scanning process can bleach the fluorophore, and will result in a reduction of signal intensity of 10-20% with each scan. Therefore, subsequent scans will not give signals as robust as the initial scan.
