What is the difference between the GeneChip Mapping 10K Array and the GeneChip Mapping 10K 2.0 Array?
The Mapping 10K 2.0 Array contains 10,204 SNPs, most of which are a subset of the 11,555 SNPs on the Mapping 10K Array. Through continued innovation in manufacturing and array density, Affymetrix is now able to offer most of the content from the Mapping 10K Array at a cost that is now comparable to microsatellite markers. The Mapping 10K 2.0 Array has room for ~10,200 SNPs. Therefore, ~1,400 SNPs were removed from the original product, based on relatively lower call rates or close SNP spacing. In addition, ~70 SNPs were added to fill gaps on chromosomes X and 19. The Mapping 10K 2.0 Array uses the same software and reagent kit as the original Mapping 10K Array. The genotyping concordance between the Mapping 10K 2.0 Array and Mapping 10K Array is 99.9%.
