Yes! Many of the tools that have been used for microsatellite analysis have been shown to work for the Mapping 10K Arrays, including Merlin and GeneHunter. To simplify use of these tools, GDAS 3.0 now has the ability to export the data in Merlin- or GeneHunter-compatible formats, and to export the data by chromosome. In addition, there are several new software packages specifically designed for 10K SNPs, including Varia by Silicon Genetics and dChipSNP by Cheng Li at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute. As proof, there have been over 15 papers published for the Mapping 10K Array in less than a year from its launch. In several of them, a linkage study has been completed, and the causative mutation has been cloned. |
