Why are different data formats for GCOS and Command Console necessary?
Affymetrix had to change data formats to transfer data that was historically stored in the GCOS database into the files themselves, as Command Console does not contain a database. This makes transferring data significantly easier in Command Console when compared to data transfer in GCOS. In addition, CHP file formats have evolved to support additional metrics and data types produced by the new analysis algorithms developed to support the new arrays.
