With the October 2007 release of Affymetrix® GeneChip® Command Console® (AGCC), our next-generation instrument control software, we will end support for GeneChip® Operating System (GCOS) server and client software on December 31, 2009. While you will continue to be able to access support for your GCOS systems during the 2009 transition period, we assume that you will want to begin migrating to AGCC as soon as possible.
Transitioning from GCOS to AGCC may be a complex process, depending on the amount of data stored on your server and the degree of integration with other third-party applications and laboratory information management systems (LIMS). Renewing your current software maintenance agreement will give you access to Affymetrix software support engineers who can help facilitate a seamless transition of your data and experiment information. While AGCC is a free, downloadable software package and generally easy to install, the SMA would allow for escalation and transitioning services to be covered.
We have developed a special, discounted software maintenance agreement to provide you with coverage that includes technical assistance during the transition period.
Primary benefits of renewing your current SMA:
- Continued escalated support coverage for the GCOS server system
- AGCC implementation and transition consulting services
- Assistance in creation of a transition/implementation plan
- On-site assistance if needed
- Escalated support beyond first-tier telephone(888-DNA-CHIP) and email technical support (support@affymetrix.com)
- Priority response
If you do not wish to renew your GCOS maintenance agreement, we also offer first-tier telephone and email support as well as additional services and escalated support through a pay-per-incident model.
