GeneChip® Xenopus tropicalis Genome Array には、発生生物学の最も重要なモデル生物の１つであるX.tropicalis（ニシツメガエル）の転写産物を検出するためのプローブが含まれています。本アレイはAffymetrix® GeneChip Consortia Program の一環として、Xenopus 研究学界との緊密な共同研究の下、デザインされたものです。

本アレイは51,000以上のX.tropicalis 転写産物に対応する58,000以上のプローブセットによって構成されています。

本アレイのデザインに使用されている配列は、Xenopus tropicalis UniGene データベース（Build30、2006年7月）、Xenopus tropicalis のGenBank® mRNA （2006年9月12日まで）、ならびにDOE Joint Genome Institute （Xentr4 転写産物、ファイル作成日：2005年8月17日、ダウンロード日：2006年5月25日）とEnsembl（release40、ダウンロード日：2006年5月）の両者から予測される遺伝子セットから選択したものです。
