アカゲザル（Macaca mulatta）は、ヒト疾患の研究にとって重要なモデル生物です。GeneChip^® Rhesus Macaque Genome Arrayは、47,000以上のアカゲザル転写産物を同時に調べることで、アカゲザル動物モデルの遺伝子発現を研究できるアレイです。また、本アレイには数種類の関連するウイルスの配列も含まれており、宿主・疾患免疫反応を研究することも可能です。

本アレイの塩基配列情報は、University of Nebraska（Norgrenら）のデータ、Baylor School of Medicineのアカゲザル全ゲノムショットガンアセンブリ（2004年10月1日）、GenBankのSTS、EST、mRNA（2005年3月30日まで）などの公開データソースから選択されています。また、プローブセットは、ヒト転写産物（GeneChip® Human Genome U133 Plus 2.0 Arrayと2005年3月までのRefSeq配列）の3’末端と対応するアカゲザル転写産物を調べることができるようにデザインされています。
