アフィメトリクスのGenome-Wide Human SNP Array 5.0は、各サンプルを非常に経済的なコストでジェノタイピングできるため、より多くのサンプルを解析することができます。そして、解析能力の高い研究を実施し、更に多くの真のアソシエーションを検出することが可能です。
SNP Array 5.0は、2アレイで構成されているMapping 500K Array Setに搭載されていた全ての一塩基多型（SNP）に加えて、コピー数多型などのほかの遺伝的差異を測定できる420,000個の非多型プローブを1アレイに搭載しています。SNP Array 5.0を用いることで、従来の500K Array Setよりも情報量が大幅に増加し、アレイ処理時間が短縮されます。
アレイ上のSNPは、ヒトゲノム中の200～1,100塩基対(bp)のNsp 1 またはSty 1 消化断片に存在し、5世代目の全ゲノムサンプリングアッセイ（WGSA)を用いて増幅されます。このアッセイでは、これまで2つの別々のアレイで解析されていたNspとStyの反応をあわせます。現行バージョンのBRLMM Analysis Tool 2.0 (BAT 2.0)を用いることで、このアレイの440,794個のSNPは、記載された性能を発揮します。
