		Affymetrix makes charitable donations to non profit organizations through its corporate philanthropy program. The company focuses its giving in three main areas: Education As a company that relies on technological and scientific innovation, Affymetrix realizes the importance of a solid educational foundation. We therefore contribute to programs that support science and math education, focusing on K-12 students and their teachers. Ethics Affymetrix believes that informed public discussion and meaningful application of ethical principles will foster the constructive uses of genetic information, while precluding inadvertent or intentional misuse. Affymetrix supports organizations that help foster an ongoing public dialogue about genetic-related ethics. Cancer Research and Advocacy Consistent with Affymetrix' mission to help scientists alleviate human suffering and improve the quality of life, the company's corporate philanthropy program provides support for non profit organizations working in the areas of disease research and advocacy, with a specific emphasis on cancer.

		Evaluation Process Affymetrix evaluates each request in the context of Affymetrix' focus areas, company priorities, geographic relevance, available budget and eligible activities/restrictions. Requests are reviewed four times per year. The average grant size is approximately $2,500. In general, Affymetrix does not provide funding for the following through its corporate philanthropy program: Advertising journals or booklets Fundraising events such as telethons, walkathons and races Specific performances or concerts Sporting events Endowment campaigns Film, video, television or radio projects Grants to individuals Political causes or candidates Organizations that practice discrimination or limit membership on the basis of race, creed, gender, age, sexual orientation or national origin.
